Summary: The Bridge: A Tribute To Neil Young is a 1989 anthology album that features a variety of alternative rock bands covering songs written by Neil Young. A portion of the profits from the album were donated to The Bridge School, which develops and uses advanced technologies to aid in the instruction of handicapped children. It was released on Caroline Records and conceived by executive producer Terry Tolkin.

Summary: Easy Rider is arguably the greatest road-movie ever created, in a spaced-out sixties era which is perfectly complemented by the songs featured in the film and on this album.
While the most famous song is undoubtedly Steppenwolf's 'Born to be Wild',(cue the beginning of the film: Hopper and Fonda's journey, with the whole of America before them)every track has its place. My favourites are 'I Wasn't Born To Follow' courtesy of The Byrds, and Hendrix's acid-drenched 'If 6 Was 9' from his 1968 Axis:Bold As Love album.
For me, this is one of the only film/soundtrack combos that works on nearly all levels - both the film and the music are neatly intertwined,(so much so that Dennis Hopper's character was based directly on David Crosby)so it almost feels that one isn't complete without the other.

Summary: Forget about who wrote the songs, forget about trying to make comparisons, forget about whether or not the performances were worthy of a tribute. Simply take it as music. Leonard Cohen wrote great songs that here shows they were also great POP songs. So if you're into great music, especially pop songs, and can listen to music without biases or prejudices then you must pick up this disc. The first track "First We Take Manhattan" clearly exemplifies this. While a R.E.M. fan, this song is one of my favorites by them. Mike Mills as co-vocalist with lead singer Michael Stipes makes this an incredible track. Ian McCulloch has an incredible voice and this shows on "Hey That's No Way....". "I Can't Forget" sounds like any other great Pixies track. There are many other stand out tracks like That Petrol Emotion's "Stories of the Street," "Don't Go Home...," "Chelsea Hotel," "Hallelujah," and my favorite: Dead Famous People's "True Leaves No Traces," which transforms Cohen's beautiful lyrics into just a gorgeous pop song. Summary: Brilliant film, brilliant soundtrack. Usually slinging disparate tracks together results in an album that sounds unfocused. Maybe it's familiarity with the film that makes this album's flow of tracks completey natural, maybe it's simply that the tracks are strong, maybe it's the snippets of dialogue. Whatever it is this combination of garage surf, disco, soul, crooning, country and classic rock has now virtually become an artistic entity in its own right. This soundtrack is peerless. The extra tracks in this edition consist of masterpieces by Link Wray, (the guitar through the damaged overdriven speaker sound of Rumble) and the Brothers Johnston (the disco balladry of Strawberry Letter #23), garage surf from the Marketts, doo wop from The Robins, and a 15 minute talk by Tarantino in which he discusses his approach to soundtracks.

Summary: "SNF" sold over 35 million copies world-wide. It also garnered seven #1 hits in the USA alone. The Bee Gees also won several Grammys from this for production and vocal arrangement. A unique mix of disco, funk and orchestration, this album (now one CD and newly remastered to perfection) defined a generation and a lasting style of music (albeit with repercussions). If you are still stalling on buying this, consider that it has been remixed and if you ever want to listen to dance songs that actually contain interesting lyrics; this is the one.

It contains recordings by platinum-sellers Violent Femmes and 10,000 Maniacs, and indie-rock favorites The Wedding Present and Tindersticks. Includes the last recording by the late Jeffrey Lee Pierce of The Gun Club. 14 tracks.

Summary: The Trainspotting soundtracks are two soundtrack albums released following the film adaptation of Irvine Welsh's novel of the same name. The first was released on July 9, 1996. The comparatively huge fanbase for both the film and the original soundtrack prompted a release of a second soundtrack on October 21, 1997. This second soundtrack included songs from the film that didn't make the cut for the first album, as well as songs that didn't appear in the final film, but were involved at earlier stages or were used as inspiration by the filmmakers. The popularity of the first volume led EMI to reissue and continue to press it from 16 June 2003. In 2007 the editors of Vanity Fair magazine ranked the original Trainspotting soundtrack as the 7th best motion picture soundtrack in history. It was ranked #17 on Entertainment Weekly's 100 Best Movie Soundtracks.
